Both Homes Sold
As you may recall The New York Times on January 28, 2010 (mentioned in my blog on February 1, 2010) did a great story on two very different homes for sale- one in Westport and the other in Weston.
The one in Weston was a “trophy” house, 6600sq ft, with all the bells and whistles, including a refrigerator in the master bedroom that the homeowner and builder Scott Buddenhagan didn’t even remember having and never used in the 4 years he lived there.
The second home was one that Scott was in the process of building, a more modest 4400 sq ft home, with smaller rooms and quality construction, but definitely much “cozier” than the Weston home he was living in. The thinking was that with this new real estate market, and the resulting world we are living in, people wanted smaller, simpler homes.
Well it seems that people like both equally. Scott’s home in Weston sold to a really nice family with one son moving to Weston from Wilton. They truly loved all the details and special features of his home. The home in Westport sold to an equally nice family moving to Westport from New York City. They have 3 children and the 4400 sq ft was definitely more than enough space for them. They were just so excited to have a beautiful home with a backyard for their young family.
